My Word for 2021 (plus inspiration to help you discover yours)

When I chose Home as my word of the year for 2020, I had no idea what that word would hold in store for me…

A pandemic that demanded I be home while also necessitating the cancellation of three sold-out international retreats that would have kept me abroad for nearly two months of last year;
Becoming certified as a kundalini yoga instructor which has left me feeling more at home in my body than I’ve ever known;
Along with the purchase of our first home which has left me wanting to be nowhere other than at home decorating, arranging and gardening;

To say, my relationship with my word of the year took on new meaning would be putting it lightly.

I have been choosing a word of the year for many years now. I am excited to share with you the word I’ve chosen for 2021, it’s a word that has been speaking to me for the past several weeks. It’s a word that I’ve been seeing on social media platforms and one I’ve been hearing myself speak in conversations. But before I do, I’m excited to share with you my process for choosing my word of the year so you can choose yours.

Choosing a word of the year is a powerful tool to bring clarity and direction to the experience of life you want to create more of.

Your word helps you weigh decisions against the experience and way of life you’re cultivating.

Don’t be mistaken, your word of the year does not represent something that is wrong, broken, or needs to be fixed about you.

Your word represents the next expression of yourself that you wish to unlock and unbound.

I have been spending a lot of time journaling these past weeks and this year’s word has been both particularly easy to identify while also just uncomfortable enough to share, such that I know it is my next level of self-expression.

If you’re struggling with calling in your word of the year, here are a couple of questions to reflect on in your journal…

What is the next way of being that you wish to step into?
What is the new experience of life that you wish to cultivate in 2021?
Who would you like to celebrate yourself for becoming this year?

If your word doesn’t speak to you from your journal, consider setting aside some time to create a vision board for the new year, and see what word or experience the images, colors, words, hues, and emotions evoke in you.

So, without further ado, my word of the year is pleasure.

Pleasure is the state or feeling of enjoyment or satisfaction derived from what is to one’s liking; gratification; delight; worldly or frivolous enjoyment. The pursuit of pleasure is a cause or source of enjoyment or delight.

And the way I will apply my word of the year is that it will serve as a daily compass check…

Are the business investments I’m making bringing me pleasure?
What are the practices in my morning routine that bring me the most pleasure?
Are the people I’m surrounding myself with bringing me pleasure and a sense of delight?
What are the business decisions that will enhance my experience of pleasure?
What are the ways in which I contribute and give back that will most greatly enhance my experience of pleasure?
How does a woman focused on pleasure dress herself? Save her money? Contribute to her community? Serve as a role model for her nieces and nephews? Love on her family, friends and clients?

And that is my word of the year, because I know that if I focus on cultivating more pleasure in my life, I am going to be blown away by the permission I give myself to be courageous in my business, in my relationships, and in my own pursuit of being an unbounded woman, partner, coach, daughter, aunt, friend, sister, leader, and member of my community.

Now, I want to hear from you! Head on over to Instagram, message me on Facebook, or hit reply to this email and share with me your word. I want to hold that intention for you to celebrate the woman you want to become this year.

Embracing Peaceful Productivity and Reinvention for Empathpreneurs with Anne Rajoo

Something that I really appreciate about thriving and having it all as an empathpreneur, is that we get to create our business around the lifestyle that we’re committed to. For me recently, that has looked like creating more spaciousness and more free time in my schedule to be with my son, while also re-evaluating my business through the lens of what’s enough. This has opened up so much more joy and peacefulness in my everyday life and I am loving every moment of it. So with that, I’m delighted to have Anne Rajoo, a Peaceful Productivity Mentor, on the show today. Anne owns a boutique VA agency and is a two time graduate of our Emerge Mastermind, and she’s someone who I appreciate and find a lot of peace in her presence. I hope you enjoy today’s episode with someone who truly embodies what they stand for in business and is committed to continually reinventing her own experience of peaceful productivity as she supports her clients in doing the same.
