Catherine A. Wood

Are You a Workaholic? I Certainly Still Have My Moments…

As I spun around the dance floor, shaking my booty and taking in all those good wedding vibes, I felt it. The onset of that sore throat, not unbearable but uncomfortable enough that I knew there was no going back, no avoiding the sinus infection this time with just chicken soup, liquids, and my beloved Neti Pot.

Why is it that we get sick so often while on vacation?

Well, I’ll leave that question right there for you to ponder, but here’s why for me…

Hard work, creates results. I learned THAT a long time ago. If I just work hard enough, I can create whatever I want. And look, there’s no denying it, hard work does get us far. If there’s anyone who gets that, I do. But, it only gets us SO far.

Often times, I’ve found myself more addicted to working hard than to achieving the result at the end of the journey.

And girlfriend, do I get it. Hard work feels good! Checking off those items on the To Do list, tallying up all the hours we’ve put in this week, comparing ourselves and our overachieving efforts to others. It feels gooooood, right?

But does it feel THAT good that you’re willing to sacrifice your own well-being, self-care, free weekends, and relationship with yourself and others for that never-ending pursuit to reach the next goal?

I remember back when I lived in San Domingo, I was home sick for nearly 3 weeks because I had overworked myself and came down with a bad case of bronchitis!

In my experience, this has been the consequence of getting my own needs met from working hard versus getting them met by me.

Here’s what I mean, hard work makes me feel good about me. It makes me feel like I’m doing enough, being enough, putting in enough. It gives me evidence to prove and earn my worth. It puts facts and figures behind my value. It provides evidence in the case of me vs. my own lovability.

As if it were up for negotiation.

Have you ever heard the coined expression, work smarter, not harder?

Well this, my friend, starts with loving you and treating your mind, body, and soul lovingly.

I am still learning in this area, but aren’t we all?

But, I have out won A LOT of my workaholic tendencies…

These days, my lovability is not up for negotiation.

I’ve learned how to say no.

I have office hours and I honor them.

I go to the doctor when I get sinus infections.

I have a CEO day.

And a Self-Care day.

Not surprisingly, I’ve found that this is the key to working smarter, not harder. And, that is creates exponentially more results.

And maybe, more importantly than all of these is that I know I am enough.

That whatever I accomplish in a day is enough.

That I, Catherine, am inherently enough.

And I know, that you are too.

And, that as soon as you have this breakthrough, you too can create the life you’ve always wanted.

Are you ready to create a life that you don’t need to escape away on vacation from? A life that you love?

I would be honored to support you on your journey.

To creating the life you’ve always wanted,

Dreaming and Manifesting for Sensitive Empaths Living in a Loud World

Today I’m kicking off a series of episodes on the Prosperous Empath® Podcast where I will dig into some commonalities that empaths and HSPs experience in entrepreneurship and leadership. In my years of working with empaths from all walks of life, I’ve noticed that we often share similar struggles and obstacles that we need to overcome to thrive and prosper. In this solo episode, I’m talking about the power of manifestation and the process of reconnecting with your dreams, desires, and creativity. To tell the truth, I have a love/hate relationship with the word “manifestation” – even though I have manifested many things in my life and business. If there’s a logical part of you that resists the concept of manifestation, you’ll resonate with this episode! I’m sharing nuggets of wisdom on how to become intentional with your thoughts and beliefs as well as my favorite manifestation practices to try.
