START LIVING THE LIFE YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED RIGHT NOW!
In this fabulous (and free) 5-day mini course and guide, you’ll learn 6 simple strategies that’ll give you the confidence and clarity to start living the life you were always meant to today.
I was speaking with a client earlier this week and she was being incredibly hard on herself, as most of us so frequently are…
As an empath, I feel for my clients when they are so deeply enmeshed in their own disempowering self-talk, which we so often are, amiright?
We think things about ourselves that we would never dare express to others we care about. Or conversely, we never allow for time to think about ourselves which can create the same result.
What struck me about this conversation in particular was that this client was working so hard on our call to avoid acknowledging that she is simply not kind to herself.
Each time I reflected the harshness of the tone of her voice and the choice of negative language she used to think about herself, she felt a need to justify and further clarify why.
This is a behavior that is one of the most common impediments to change and growth that I have witnessed over the years in my practice.
Glennon Doyle explains the concept beautifully in her newest book Untamed when she shares that “Revelation precedes Revolution.”
I have never personally witnessed a time in our Nation’s history when this need has been so deeply lacking.
I believe this principle runs deep. We must first acknowledge what is – in our Nation’s politics, in our racist underpinnings, in our country’s economics and wealth becoming wealthier during this pandemic, and the growing divide between the haves and the have nots.
This resistance to avoid the truth is deeply painful and inevitably delays change.
I think the upside of being honest with ourselves in business is limitless. We can skyrocket our impact, help more clients, transform our income and create a legacy for our families.
But the downside of avoiding accepting reality can be pretty palpable as well. I have seen clients fall into massive debt; business partnerships end that may not have otherwise needed to (myself included); business owners avoiding paying themselves an honest salary for years for fear of getting honest with themselves about their numbers; and countless other examples…
Accepting some of these truths is a confronting process, but the upside of getting clear is that we have the process to transform our future results so that we don’t continue creating more of the same in different forms and fashions.
Through the reckoning of being raw and honest with ourselves, we can confront the belief systems and do the inner work required to implement lasting change.
One of the areas of business that has helped my clients (and myself) face themselves is through knowing their numbers.
This is also why systems play such an integral part of my work with my UNBOUNDED Masterminders because our business numbers can’t lie to us.
It’s much harder to avoid accepting what’s so when…
Your ideal schedule is staring you in the face with how you want to be managing your calendar;
Your priorities are written next to your keyboard telling you what you declared to focus on;
Your budget tells you how much money you have to invest in your business this month;
Your ideal client avatar lets you know who you are committed to working with (and with whom you are not);
Your sales cycle lets you know just how many consultations and nos it typically takes you to arrive at your next yes;
You have a community of women entrepreneurs who are playing the same game and relating to you as your declarations.
This week’s blog is the second in this month’s series where I will share some of the greatest mindset shifts to make in becoming the CEO of your business and of your life. You can read last week’s article on business boundaries here.
